DESCRIPTION: APW - Waltham, Riverside Maximus, Model 1899, 23J, 16S, very heavy 18K gold original A.L. Dennison English-made case bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1909, front and rear each with an applied gold medallion at center that is ornately engraved and feature buckles with black enameled outlines, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, diamond endstone, raised gold jewel settings, gold train, ornate nickel damascene, s#12583129. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.4 dwt (129.8 g). A very attractive example of this high grade Waltham made for the English export market.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, few minuscule specks of oxide to regulator assembly and winding wheels; dial has two hls at 4, short faint hl at 6, a fine scratch within seconds-register, and few extremely minuscule edge nicks under bezel between 2 and 3; fine hands have oxide and portions of finish loss; case shows very light wear, front with small protruding ding above applied medallion, few shallow impressions in surface of rear, many scattered very small pinprick nicks to front and rear, excellent engraving detail to applied medallions with black enamel almost completely intact with exception to a small area on front; tight bow, crown has lost its jacket (outer layer) and brass core shows little wear; good glass crystal.
